Last time I was getting my haircut and colored at Splurge I asked about their Jane Iredale makeup display. Coincidentally, I had started using the mineral loose powder foundation about a year ago and was driving a distance to replenish my supply. It hadn't occurred to me that Splurge carried it (I am quick like that). What I love about the foundation is that it doesn't feel like I am wearing makeup when I use it and the SPF is a big bonus.

Since I have never used the other Jane Iredale products, they suggested I check out the fun over at the Jane Iredale Mineral Makeover Room. This seemed like the perfect way for me to "try out" products.

The first step is to choose a body double.

I chose someone that looked just like me. OK, maybe I chose a supermodel that had similar coloring to me.

Next I tried out some different shades of foundations. I ultimately chose the one that I usually use, but it was interesting to see some of the darker shades which gave more of a sun-kissed look to "my" face.

Then I played with color combinations of blush, eye shadow, eye liner and lips. It was nice to be able to see how much color was involved in the different shades of blush. The area I spent the most time experimenting with was the lip color. I hate how you can't really try out lipstick in stores to get a feel for the true color and some of my favorite shades in the past look really dark in the tube, but nice on me which is always confusing.

When I was all done I looked at the before/after pictures and the website compiled a shopping list of all the products I chose. I really think that this would be helpful in narrowing down my choices. I am usually pretty overwhelmed any time the word "makeup" is mentioned let alone when I am responsible to make purchase decisions.

Splurge Salon in the Shops of Highland Village came up at the top of the list for my close locations which is probably a good thing since I am long overdue for a cut and color...again.
